We need to save the Cotton-Top monkey.
TIn a recent visit to Animal Kingdom at Disney World, my daughter saw a little monkey with white hair, and the Colombian flag in the explanation of where they live and who they are: The cotton-top tamarins, called Titi in Spanish. She got really interested in knowing more about this little friend.
She talked to the expert in charge of that presentation, who told my daughter that this monkey only lives in Colombia, in a specific zone of the Caribbean coast, that is close to my home town. Disney and other groups have tried to protect the land where they live, but they need more help from people like you and me.
My goal in writing this note is that more people become aware of the need to save this endangered species, and a way to collaborate with this effort is via the foundation dedicated to this beautiful task, the Proyecto Titi foundation. You can find lots of info at the foundation website http://proyectotiti.com and know how to help. Your kids can learn fun facts about the tamarins at http://trees4tamarins.com
I know there are thousands of choices when we talk about foundations and charities, I chose the Proyecto Titi since these animals can't protect themselves from the changes produced by humans in the environment they live. I invite you to consider this foundation next time you are deciding the allocation of your donations. Have a great time.
